  • Boot in bootloader or fastboot mode by pressing volume down and power button
  • Connect usb cable to phone and pc
  • Make sure drivers are recognized by going to Device Manager. If it is not recognized or shows "!", then manually update the drivers by pointing it to the usb driver folder in the Nexus5 folder on your desktop
  • Open a terminal in your pc (cmd) and navigate to the "Nexus5" folder. (normally should be "cd desktop " then "cd Nexus5 ")
  • Type fastboot devices. If no serial number is shown on your screen, you need to fix the drivers..
  • Type fastboot oem unlock. Follow the prompt on your phone by navigating with the volume buttons and choosing "yes" with the power button. This will wipe your phone so make sure you have backed up your data.
  • Download SuperSU and copy paste to your virtual sdcard
  • Place the cwm file in the same folder as your fastboot files/binaries
  • Turn off phone and reboot into bootloader by pressing volume down and power
  • Open cmd on your pc and navigate to the folder of your fastboot binaries (hold shift+right click on the folder, select open command window here)
  • Connect phone
  • Type: "fastboot devices" - result should show on your terminal the serial number of the device
  • Type: "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.5-hammerhead.img"
  • Choose volume down or up until you have the recovery menu then press power button to enter into recovery mode.
  • Choose "install zip from sdcard"
  • Choose "0"
  • Look for the SuperSU zip you pasted then select Yes - install
  • Wait for the device to update.
  • Then select reboot system. You will be prompted that system will be flashing stock recovery. Select No.
  • Wait for the devices to boot up.
  • Check on your dashboard if you are successfully installed SuperSU. You are now rooted.
  • Done
